The parents of a four-year-old girl who accidentally shot herself denied her medical care so they would not get into trouble with authorities, police have revealed.
Gwinnett County Police said the father, 20-year-old Thomas Sumlin, convinced his girlfriend Tyshonna Mercedez Blades that the girl’s injuries were not severe enough to seek medical help after the June 4 shooting.
The shocking incident occurred while the couple and their three young children were renting a room in a Days Inn hotel near Stone Mountain, Georgia, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
