WORCESTER, Mass.—A Holden man who threw his wife down the cellar stairs and beat her over the head with a weightlifting bar has been sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
Ronald Dubovick had faced a murder charge for the December 2006 attack and resulting death of Janet Dubovick, but pleaded to the lesser charge in a deal with prosecutors.
Prosecutors say the 68-year-old woman died in the hospital nearly five months later of injuries sustained in the attack. The couple had been married 47 years.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
