Police said Martinez's crime spree happened on the night of Oct. 11, 2009.
The victim recently told KRDO-TV that she'd gone out for her birthday that night, celebrating at a bar and a house party. All the while, she was being stalked by Martinez, the news station reported.
The victim told police that Martinez abducted her in her sister's car and beat her. "My head was being bashed into the console, my hair was ripped out, I lost the majority of my teeth," the woman told KRDO-TV.
Police said her attacker drove the woman to several locations west of Colorado Springs, where he repeatedly sexually assaulted her.
The woman told police she tried to fight the man during the attack and that she lost consciousness at one point. The man eventually stopped the car, leaving the woman inside as he ran off.
The beating left the woman with serious brain injuries.
