A pensioner was repeatedly stabbed with a Samurai sword he had brandished in an attempt to defend his east London home against intruders.
The 65-year-old had been woken in the early hours of Saturday morning to find three youths in his front garden He picked up the ceremonial sword he kept on display in his living room and tried to scare them off by waving it at them.
The youths ran off but when the man walked out of his bedroom he found two standing on his landing. He shouted at them to leave but instead one of them grabbed the sword and used it to attack him, stabbing him multiple times, before running away with the weapon.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
