Two young women charged in connection with the brutal axe murder of 23-year-old Hans Rickard Strømner deliberated for around a week before deciding how to kill him, a prosecutor has said.

Strømmer’s body was found by two girls behind a shed in Oslo’s Klemetsrud district in October, having lain there since the summer.

His 21-year-old ex-girlfriend is charged with having attacked Strømner’s upper body with an axe as he lay in bed at her home in nearby Rustadsaga.

Her 22-year-old friend is accused of having helped her to dispose of the body by rolling it in a plastic covering and hiding it near an animal shelter in Klemetsrud.

She says 21-year-old Richard Garibay became enraged when he found a text message from another man on her cellphone.

Investigators say Garibay beat her and used tape to bind her arms and legs while threatening her with a handgun in the Ceres home south of Modesto.

Police say Garibay's friend, 20-year-old Armando Osegueda, helped restrain the pregnant teenager.

A Tennessee man drowned after he jumped in the swift-moving Tennessee River to save his girlfriend from her sinking car, but she had already escaped, police said.

Christopher Heaton, 25, immediately dove into the water near Bridgeport, Ala., after he drove to the boat ramp where they were supposed to meet Tuesday night and saw her submerged car, Jackson County Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen said.

"Witnesses saw he was trying to get to the car, assuming he was trying to get to her," Harnen said.

The girlfriend, whose name hasn't been released, had already swam to the bank.

The situation at Easton's Pee Wee Horse Farm is one that has many sickened. News 8 learned that three of the five horses taken away from the owner were so ill they had to be euthanized.

WETASKIWIN, ALTA. - A central Alberta alderman was met with laughter when he expressed a concern over teens getting drunk from inserting alcohol-soaked tampons into their bodies.

Wetaskiwin Ald. Barry Hawkes told RCMP brass during a council meeting he'd watched a U.S. TV show about the unusual behaviour.

“Are you finding any problems as far as the high school and junior highs where alcohol is starting to become prominent?" Hawkes said during the Jan. 30 meeting.

“Do you mean drinking outside the school?” asked Staff Sgt. Gary Rhodes.

Hawkes then said teenagers are using tampons soaked in alcohol in order to get drunk.

“And it’s a male, female – they’re sticking them up their rectums and getting a quick fix off of that,” said Hawkes.

The body of Josephine Gilliard, 74, was found at about 10:00 GMT on Sunday at a house on Links Road, Blackpool.

Frederick Gilliard was remanded to appear at Preston Crown Court on 10 February.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as multiple stab wounds and a blow to the head with a heavy object, police said.

The father of a three-month old who died after claims she fell off his lap twice fracturing her skull, rib, shoulder and arm while he was playing a video game has been convicted of murder.

Jason Gallaway, 32, of Delaware was found guilty of first degree murder by abuse or neglect Thursday. He first reported his daughter Marissa had stopped breathing in December of 2010 at his Seaford home.

A detective testifying in his trial said when he arrived at the home following the infant's rush to a hospital Gallaway appeared distracted by a Play Station video game that had been left on pause beside him.

A young gamer lay dead in an internet cafe in Taiwan for nine hours before anyone noticed.

Chen Rong-yu, 23, is thought to have suffered a heart attack after playing League of Legends for 23 hours.

He was apparently still sat on the chair with his hands stretched out in front of the keyboard as if he was still playing in the cafe in New Taipei City.

Daniela Abreu was a rear-seat passenger in a Chrysler 300 that was driving on the Major Deegan Expressway.

Driver Eduardo Nunez, 30, lost control near the Cross Bronx Expressway interchange at 12.15 am, after zooming down the highway and dangerously switching lanes.

York County authorities say a woman and her 16-year-old son were severely beaten at a home in Rock Hill late Wednesday. The boy is in critical condition today at a Charlotte hospital.

A U.S. college student is suing his fraternity after a fellow frat boy allegedly got drunk and shot bottle rockets out of his anus, causing the startled plaintiff to fall off a balcony.

Louis Helmburg III is suing the the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, as well as member Travis Hughes, over drunken misadventures that allegedly occurred at a frat party on May 1, 2011.

"Defendant Hughes was highly intoxicated on this date and time, and decided in a drunken stupor that it would be a good idea to shoot bottle rockets out of his anus on the ATO deck," reads the lawsuit.
