Emergency crews called to help a man who reportedly took an overdose saw him fall from a balcony to his death.
Police were called to a flat in Poole, Dorset, on Saturday afternoon to help paramedics who received reports a man had taken an overdose.
Officers and paramedics arrived to find the man hanging by his hands before falling several floors to the ground.
The 29-year-old was taken to Poole Hospital but died of his injuries during the early hours of Sunday.
The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
The man's next of kin are being supported by a police family liaison officer.
Police have appealed for witnesses.
