Man taken to hospital after castrating self

Cedar Rapids, Ia. - A 71-year-old man was taken to a Cedar Rapids hospital Monday after police say he castrated himself with a razor blade.

Cedar Rapids police said emergency responders went to a house Monday morning after the man called police dispatchers to report the incident himself.

Police said he told dispatchers he did it for religious reasons.

The man was taken to St. Luke's Hospital. His name was not released.
