DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. -- A woman tried to throw homemade bombs at her neighbor because she was upset about his use of a computer, police said.
A man called Daytona Beach Shores Police Sunday evening to report that another resident at his condominium complex had pushed him and tried to take his laptop. Ward told police Marie John told him his room would burn for using the computer.
The man decided not to press charges because he was not in fear of John, 46. John told police people were being murdered over the Internet and computers were not allowed on the property.
Less than an hour later, the man called police back to the Pirate's Cove condos on South Atlantic Avenue. He told police John followed him to the parking lot and attempted to light a rag that was partially stuffed into a beer bottle filled with gasoline.
Police said the man was able to knock the bottle out of John's hand and flee to his condo until police arrived.
Officers said they could smell gas coming from John's condo, where they found two more Molotov Cocktails and a gas can.
John told the officers she was forced to make the bombs because people were being murdered through the Internet and she had received a presidential pardon prior to "pumping the gas," police said.
John was charged with attempted murder, manufacturing a firebomb and aggravated assault.
