A man and a woman were admitted to Erie County Medical Center over the weekend after they attempted to commit suicide in Emery Park in East Aurora, police said.
The Sheriff's Office reported that the two, who were not identified, were reported injured inside a park bathroom at about 9:45 a.m. Saturday morning by park officials. Officers from the East Aurora Police Department found the two with what appeared to be self-inflicted cuts on their arms.
Police later said the two were admitted heroin users and that might have played a role in their apparent motivation to injure themselves.
They were treated at the scene by members of the South Wales Fire Company and Rural/Metro Medical Services and taken to ECMC.
Because the park is county-owned, the case was turned over to the Sheriff's Office.
