He may be a savage killer - but he's no cannibal.
A Queens man sentenced to 15 years to life Thursday for stabbing his wife 250 times was hit with an unfounded claim that he ate the victim's organs.
The lawyer for Mohammad Solaiman was forced to deny the allegation, which prosecutors also said was untrue.
The sister-in-law of Shadida Sultana blurted out the macabre scenario during an emotional victim-impact statement in Queens Supreme Court.
"Why did he kill my sister?," she asked the judge.
"I don't know why he did this to her. He cut out her heart and her liver and ate it. He drank her blood.
"My whole family, they want to know why," she said through tears. "Are you going to ask the defendant why he did it?...She's my little baby sister."
Defense lawyer John Scarpa - already saddled with the unenviable task of seeking mercy for a man who killed in front of his 4-year-old daughter - tried to set the record straight.
"This man killed his wife," Scarpa told Queens Supreme Court Justice Richard Buchter. "He didn't turn into a cannibal."
Solaiman, 52, pleaded guilty to manslaughter earlier this year for his Dec. 22, 2007, attack on Sultana after a fight in their Jamaica home.
He stabbed her over and over while their young daughter watched. Covered in blood, he then knocked on a neighbor's door and confessed: "I just killed my wife."
In court, he turned to face his sister-in-law and said only: "I am sorry."
Scarpa claimed that Solaiman snapped and suffering through six years of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of his 32-year-old wife.
"She was not a saintly woman," Scarpa said. "This man exploded after many, many years of abuse."
But the judge wondered why Solaiman never filed a police report about the alleged abuse.
"I don't think she deserved what she got," Buchter said.
"In a final act of savagery he exposed his four-year-old daughter to this horrific murder scene," Buchter said. "If that's not savagery, I don't know what is."
