'Man tries to burn wife to death...but sets fire to himself instead'

A man who allegedly tried to kill his ex-wife by setting her on fire mistakenly turned himself into a human torch.

Matthew Wong has been left fighting for his life after his attempted murder plot went disastrously wrong in Florida.

The 50-year-old had chased his estranged wife Gloria Davis across an apartment complex car park with a 2 1/2 gallon container of gasoline.

As he tossed the liquid at his wife it splashed all over his clothes.

When he set fire to bushes outside a flat where his wife was taking refuge he went up in flames.

Wong was heard shouting:'I'm gonna kill you' before his clothes caught fire.
