Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person responsible for abandoning two dogs in such poor health last weekend in San Bruno that the Peninsula Humane Society had to euthanize them.
The female, a black terrier mix that was about 4 years old, was missing its front right paw. It also had a fractured right pelvis and a compound fracture in the front left leg with an exposed bone stump, which veterinarians said was an indication of an older, untreated injury. That leg was stuck to its body because its fur was so tangled.
The male dog, a black-and-white terrier mix that was about 10 years old, had bowed front legs and a fractured rear left leg. It also had pale gums, an indication of long-term malnourishment, said Scott Delucchi, spokesman for the Peninsula Humane Society.
