SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—Hampden District Attorney Mark Mastroianni says a man who fired dozens of shots from a Chicopee apartment last week, wounding two people, and terrorizing neighborhood commuters, took his own life.
Mastroianni said Thursday an autopsy found 41-year-old Carlos Lageur of Springfield shot himself in the head, and had nonlethal wounds, likely from police weapons.
Mastroianni said Lageur forced his way into his ex-girlfriend's apartment around 7:45 a.m. April 13 with two handguns, a semiautomatic rifle and at least 206 rounds of ammunition. The woman escaped. Her 8-year-old son hid inside until the shooting ended.
