Fugitive who kidnapped two girls after killing their mother and sister DEAD after shooting himself but girls are safe

Police have captured the Mississippi fugitive who killed a mother and her eldest daughter before running away with her two youngest daughters.

Local police have confirmed that Adam Mayes died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The chief says a SWAT team located Mayes and when they moved in to apprehend him, he shot himself.

He says the two girls- Alexandria Bain, 12, and Kyliyah Bain, 8- are safe and being taken to a hospital for observation. It was not immediately clear if the girls were with Mayes.

Authorities found Mayes and the two girls after acting on a tick that directed them in the area of New Albany, Mississippi, which is approximately a half-hour drive from his home.

The girls have been on the run with Mayes for two weeks. He and his wife, Teresa, are charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Jo Ann Bain, 31, and her daughter, Adrienne, 14.

Their bodies were found buried outside the Mayes' home a week after they were reported missing by Jo Ann Bain's husband, Gary.
