Parents Convicted in Death of 2-year-old Daughter

LYNWOOD(KTLA) -- A Lynwood couple was sentenced today for the beating death of their 2-year old daughter.

Miriam Abrego, 25, was sentenced to a prison term of 17 years to life. The child's father, Michael Lara-Morales, 24, was sentenced to 20 years in state prison.

Abrego pleaded no contest to second-degree murder and child abuse.

Lara-Morales pleaded no contest to one count of voluntary manslaughter, three counts of child abuse and admitted allegations that he inflicted great bodily injury on the child, identified as Abigail.
