Two elderly women accused of being witches die after drinking poison to 'cleanse their souls'

Two elderly women died in Zimbabwe after their families accused them of being witches and encouraged them to drink a mystery liquid to cleanse their souls, it was reported today. Jersey Mutero, 83, and Erita Bhebhe, 73, collapsed moments after swallowing the poisonous drink during a ceremony near their homes. The New Zimbabwe website reported that a local healer had gone on the run following the deaths last Saturday in a rural village in the country's Midlands province.
