A man who shaved his wife's head and beat her with a garden hose in a jealous rage has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in jail.
Raidh Janabi, 53, from Endeavour Hills, pleaded guilty in the Victorian County Court to recklessly causing serious injury to his now ex-wife in 2011.
In 2011 Janabi confronted his wife, believing she was having an affair with another man.
Days later he subjected her to a 20 minute attack in which he bound her hands and feet with duct tape, roughly shaved her head, and beat her for 15 minutes with a garden hose.
He also punched and choked and beat her with a shoe, leaving her black and blue.
The court heard that when police showed Janabi photographs of his wife's bruising, he replied: "If a wife cheats on a husband, she can expect to have this done to her."
"She pushed me too much and made me do it," he said.
