CALGARY -- Fatal beating victim Cherry Ledesma was missing for days before her body was discovered in her own home, hidden under a pile of clothing.
And Ledesma's corpse was showing early signs of decomposition, the Crown said, at the opening of her common-law husband's manslaughter trial Monday.
Marlo McGregor told Justice Suzanne Bensler the prosecution won't be able to call a witness to say Gregory Houle was the one who beat Ledesma to death.
But the Crown lawyer said the circumstantial evidence she will call should lead Bensler to one conclusion -- Houle is responsible for killing the deceased.
