Teenager dies of meningitis at remote community

A teenager from a remote Central Australian community has died from meningococcal meningitis.

It says there have been no other cases of the disease reported and it does not consider the death as signalling an outbreak of the disease.

The last major outbreak of meningococcal meningitis in the Territory was in 1998, when there were 11 confirmed cases and one person died.
