PHOENIX -- Phoenix police have launched a murder investigation after a body was found in the road in the area of Interstate 17 and Northern Avenue early Wednesday morning.
Police first received a 911 call about something going on in the neighborhood at about 1:30 a.m. When they arrived on the scene, they found an adult male lying in the street.
According to Tammy Rose in the news helicopter, the man had been shot in the head. Investigators, however, have not confirmed that. All they will say right now is that some kind of weapon was used.
Investigators have determined that this is a homicide, but at this point, they have no idea who killed the man or how he ended up in middle of the street.
Police said they have identified the victim, but they will not release his name until they can notify his family.
Homicide detectives were on the scene and streets in the area were closed while they conducted their investigation. Freeway traffic was not affected.
The scene has since been cleared.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
