A 12-year-old girl and her mother are in a critical condition after an apparent knife brawl with each other.
The pair were taken to hospital after being discovered with stab wounds in Southall, west London, on Saturday afternoon.
Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
The woman, aged between 30 and 40, and her daughter were injured in a park across the road from the family home, according to neighbours.
The alarm was raised after a dog walker found the pair, one resident added.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Police were called following reports of two females suffering from stabbing injuries.
"They have both been taken to a north London hospital where they are both described as being in a critical condition."
Police tents have been erected on a patch of grass behind the street as forensic officers attend the scene.
