The collision occurred about 12:23 p.m. in the 6100 block of north Highway 6, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Juan Gonzalez Cruz was driving a 1998 GMC truck southbound on Highway 6 when he hit a pedestrian who was fleeing after she allegedly committed a robbery at a nearby store and tried to cross the road.
The woman, who has not been identified, stepped into the path of Cruz’s truck, deputies said. She was severely injured and was rushed to North Cypress Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Deputies said Cruz stopped after the collision, walked toward the injured woman and then left.
He was found and taken into custody about two hours later.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
