A fight broke on the M1 today after a devastating '140mph death race' claimed the lives of two young men. The 22 and 24-year-old were killed in the same car in the early hours of this morning in a crash between two BMWs that were believed to be driving at excessive speeds. A third car, a Mercedes believed to be carrying friends from the same group, was following behind. A witness claimed he saw the BMWs racing each other moments before one of them clipped the central reservation and bounced off a bridge into the path of the other one. The driver and back seat passenger of one of the BMWs were killed in the 2.40am smash on a southbound section of the motorway. Minutes after the crash, a Mercedes C220 pulled up at the side of the road and four men got out and started brawling with survivors of the crash who were able to escape the wreckage, the witness said. This afternoon police confirmed they had arrested a 25-year-old man from east London on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
