Man who suffocated wheelchair-bound girlfriend tried feverishly to revive her, prosecutors say

The Brooklyn man charged with suffocating his wheelchair-bound girlfriend Sunday feverishly tried to revive her before leaving the body and their two-year-old son alone for 16 hours, court documents show. The bizarre and disturbing details were revealed after Angelo Sanchez, 41, was arraigned Tuesday for the murder of Melissa Torres, 32. Sanchez, who has a long criminal history, was ordered held without bail. He confessed to putting a blanket over the mouth of his girlfriend of 18 years "until she became unresponsive" inside their Williamsburg apartment, according to the criminal complaint.
