Two British women injured after acid is thrown into their faces on Zanzibar where they were volunteering at local schools

Two British volunteers injured in an acid attack on the Indian Ocean island of Zanzibar last night have been named as Kate Gee and Kirstie Trup from London. The pair, both 18, suffered burns to their faces, chests and hands after the corrosive substance was thrown in their faces in the late night attack in Stone Town, in the west of the island. Witnesses said two men threw acid on the Britons as they walked through the capital's narrow streets, before speeding off on a moped.
