Papillion, NE - A bizarre and disturbing story out of Papillion. A warning: the details are very gruesome. Papillion police tell Action 3 News two small dogs survived for nearly two weeks, by eating their former owner.
Officers were called to a home last week for a man who had not been seen by his neighbors for days. When the officers got there, they found the man dead in his home. It appears his two pugs ate parts of the man's body. The Nebraska Humane Society now has possession of the two pugs.
The humane society has been flooded with calls and emails from people wanting to help out two little pugs. While surviving off of their owner is tragic and gruesome don't let that cloud your judgement about these two wonderful dogs.
'Action 3 News' Liz Dorland met Harry and Sally Wednesday. The two pugs run and play at the humane society, safe after surviving on their dead owner's body for over two weeks. Pam Weise with the humane society says their story is heartbreaking. Weise says, "The gentleman clearly loved them. They were vaccinated, they were up to date on everything, they were spayed and nuneuterednd they had their licenses. He clearly took very good care of them. And so I feel very bad for them that they lost their owner."
With Harry and Sally running and sitting in Liz's lap, the humane society assures her they are loving pets and are ready to find a good home. Weise says workers are hand picking the pugs' new owners very carefully. "Were going to check through and talk to them and see what their experience is and so kind of try get at why they might want these dogs," she says.
Even though Sally and Harry have lost a loving owner, let their smile and tail tell you how they are feeling. Both pugs will be adopted out together. They are high energy, well-mannered dogs who love to be petted and walked.
