INDEPENDENCE, MO (AP) - An 11-year old Independence boy has been charged in juvenile court with second-degree murder.
Jackson County authorities say the boy shot David Paul Champ at the man's home Monday afternoon.
The boy's name and his relationship to the victim have not been released because of his age.
The Kansas City Star reports that they boy would be one of the youngest people ever charged with murder in Jackson County.
After the shooting, the Jackson County Health Department said the house where Champ was shot had mold, raw sewage, dangerous wiring and holes in the floor.
