Two professional mediums fail test to demonstrate their psychic powers under laboratory conditions

Nothing James Randy hasn't already proposed to many a fake out there, but still, every hit at such a lying asshole counts...

Two professional mediums were unable to demonstrate their psychic powers in a test under laboratory conditions at a university. Patricia Putt and Kim Whitton, both of whom use their claimed powers to earn a living, had accepted the challenge set by scientists at Goldsmiths University as a fair test of their abilities. Designed by Professor Chris French, Head of the Anomalistic Psychology Research Unit at Goldsmiths, the experiment asked the pair to identify characteristics of five randomly selected people who sat behind a screen.

With the subjects remaining entirely silent, the psychics were asked to write notes relating to them - with the sitters then asked if they could identify themselves from these readings. 'Kim and Patricia felt they’d have no trouble in passing this test,' Professor French explained. However, in a result they maybe should have seen coming, neither scored more than one hit in five from the readings. 'Despite expressing confidence throughout the experiment, neither were able to gain more than a single correct reading, a result entirely consistent with the operation of chance alone,' said Professor French. 'We are of course hugely grateful to Kim and Patricia for taking part, and wish them all the best. 'It’s unfortunate for them that they weren’t able to pass our test, but we’re very pleased they were willing to take part nonetheless.'
