An Edgewater man fatally stabbed a 70-year-old woman in their North Side apartment and left the body on the floor in a pool of blood for at least a day, prosecutors said Friday.
Mordecai Faskowitz, 63, of the 1300 block of West Thorndale Avenue, was charged with first-degree murder for killing 70-year-old Marjorie G. Ivy, authorities said. Judge James Brown ordered Faskowitz held without bond on Friday.

Officers were eventually allowed inside, where they found Ivy on the floor in a pool of blood next to a broken knife blade, according to court documents.
Ivy’s throat was slit; she was stabbed multiple times; and officers found blood splatter behind her and blood throughout the apartment, prosecutors said.
