The Godfather And The Mob reveals the true life story of murder, mafia and mayhem that occurred behind the scenes of the most iconic gangster film ever made. When plans were revealed to turn Mario Puzo's bestselling novel into a film, the mafia claimed The Godfather to be anti-American-Italian and attempted to stop the film being made. What followed was a combination of terrifying and hilarious hurdles in making the film, involving illiterate mobsters, terrified Mafioso actors, furious politicians and studio in-fighting. The Godfather And The Mob tells - through interviews, archive footage and never before seen stills - how the Mob ensured all references to the "Mafia" became "The Family", took bit parts on screen and insisted on appraising and editing the script, in a bizarre blurring of fact and fiction.
