A drinking binge has left a US woman with her legs amputated — and she blames her local hospital.
Shanna Hiles had been celebrating her 20th birthday before she passed out drunk with her legs tucked under her for 12 hours, blocking blood flow to her extremities.
A relative eventually discovered her and took her to the hospital but her lawyers say a six-hour wait to be treated worsened her condition.
By the time she was attended to, it was too late — her legs were removed at the knees.
Hiles’s lawyers say the condition was reversible if it was discovered in time.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review says the lawsuit alleges staff at the Uniontown Hospital in Pennsylvania "discounted" symptoms of the blockage because Hiles was intoxicated.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
