Chris P. Collins is being held in the Ada County Jail on a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor malicious injury to property after Collins told Boise police he attacked a pop machine with a hatchet because he thought somebody was trapped inside.
Boise police were sent to a motel on Broadway Avenue at 8:46 p.m. Sunday to investigate a report of a man carrying a hatchet in the area. When police arrived, they found the Pepsi machine damaged and saw Collins holding the hatchet. That's when Collins told police he attacked the machine because he suspected someone was inside, according to reports.
Police say the 47-year-old Collins sat down when asked and peacefully handed over the hatchet to officers.
Police say Collins also gave them the key to his motel room, where officers found two used syringes and a spoon with white residue that tested positive for methamphetamine, according to reports.
Police then arrested Collins and booked him into the Ada County Jail.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
