Police say a man is dead after he allegedly attacked a Massachusetts police officer, grabbed the officer's gun and then fatally shot himself.
Lynn, Mass., police Lt. Bill Sharpe says the officer was injured during the encounter Thursday morning in front of City Hall, but not seriously.
Sharpe says a young male approached the officer from behind at about 10 a.m. and attacked him unprovoked. He says a nearby utility worker intervened and while the three struggled, the suspect got hold of the officer's gun and shot himself.
A witness, Lawrence Harvey, told The Daily Item of Lynn that he heard two shots and later saw the officer being treated for a hand wound.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
