CHANDLER, Ariz. - Twilight, True Blood, the Vampire Diaries... pop culture makes being a vampire look glamorous. But the vampire trend has taken a dangerous turn -- as two people are arrested in connection to the stabbing of a 25-year-old man and efforts to drink his blood.
Aaron Homer, 24 is facing charges of aggravated assault and false reporting to law enforcement. Amanda Williams, 21, is a facing false reporting charge.
The victim, Robert Maley, 25, told Chandler Police he let his roommates suck his blood before, but when he refused to let them do it again, he was stabbed for it.
Officers arriving at the Chandler apartment found Homer and Williams, blood everywhere, with a "trail of blood leaving the apartment."
The victim was found several blocks away with a stab wound to his left arm. He told officers that Homer and Williams were into "vampire stuff and paganism," and when he wouldn't let them drink his blood again, Homer became very angry.
The knife was found underneath the bedroom mattress, placed there by Homer before police arrived. Maley says he left the scene because of an outstanding warrant for a probation violation.
When detectives questioned Homer and Williams, they gave stories that were similar but varied wildly in details. Homer and Williams both told police the same story -- that Williams had been attacked by Maley and she had stabbed him in self-defense -- but police quickly became suspicious when the accounts didn't add up.
According to the report, Homer changed his story multiple times, but when he was confronted with the evidence, Homer admitted to stabbing Maley because he was "making fun of [their] religion."
Police found that Williams was never assaulted and also lied to police several times.
Maley was arrested on his probation violation warrant. He was also treated for the wound, which required several stitches.
