At least 65 people were executed in the first 40 days of 2012 for various offences, including 14 on a single day, Human Rights Watch said Thursday.
Joe Stork, deputy Middle East director of the New York-based advocacy group, said that Iraqi authorities appear to have given the 'green light to execute at will.'
The group said trials often violate international standards and many defendants are unable to challenge the evidence against them, which may include forced confession.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
