Machete-wielding rapist deemed dangerous offender

WINNIPEG - A "highly psychopathic" sexual sadist convicted of multiple violent rapes will be locked up indefinitely, a Manitoba judge has ruled.

Cook met the first victim outside his apartment and, after a brief conversation, invited her in. When the woman became uncomfortable and tried to leave, Cook pulled a machete from his bed, held it to her throat and raped her.

Cook also has convictions for violent sexual assaults dating back to the mid-'90s. In one case, he bound and gagged the woman he lived with, raped her and broke beer bottles over her head. The woman suffered a miscarriage as a result of the attack.
