Five children and their foster father were all killed when the van they were driving in slammed into an empty cattle trailer on a highway construction zone.
Howard Mitchell, a sheriff's deputy who ran a home for adopted and foster children in Kit Carson, Colorado, was driving with 12 youngsters when they crashed.
The children who died ranged in age from 4 to 17. The seven remaining youngsters were all injured in the accident and taken to hospital. All lived in the home with Mr Mitchell.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
