Donald A. Shafchuk was charged with shooting and killing the West Highland terrier belonging to neighbor Michael Green on Nov. 27.
Shafchuk denied shooting the dog, but told police he has had problems with the animal, and a few months ago complained that the dog was acting aggressively and feared he would bite his wife.
