MERIDEN, Conn. -- The mystery deepens in Meriden after a swan goose was discovered dead in the road with a note next to the animal's body last week.
Now, people are stepping forward and offering rewards to anyone with information on who was responsible for the animal's death.
Last Tuesday, Big Boy, the swan goose, was found crushed to death in the middle of the road. Police said the gouge on the animal's head was the same width as a tire which led them to believe Big Boy was run over.
However, the story gets more bizarre.
Police said when they found the animal in the road, they found a note next to it that said, "Killed with intent. How pathetic we are as a species."
The reward for information on who killed the bird totals $2,000.
Meriden police are asking anyone with information to contact them.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
