CALGARY (CBC) - A Quebec man hailed as a hero for helping save a woman who lost her legs in a train accident is reportedly facing legal troubles.
Roger Saulnier was arrested three times on the weekend, before police finally kept him behind bars awaiting a court appearance, according to reports from Corus Saguenay.
Saulnier's troubles with the law reportedly started when the police confiscated his car after he was caught driving without a licence on Saturday night.
He was then arrested again on Sunday morning after allegedly breaking into his ex-wife's home, where he is alleged to have assaulted her and made death threats.
After he was released by officers, Saulnier is then alleged to have put pressure on the victim to withdraw her complaint against him.
Saulnier made headlines last week after he came to the rescue of a woman who lost her legs after falling from a train at the Jonquière station last week.
The woman had been trying to hop onto a freight train, when she fell and ended up under the train. Both her legs were severed in the incident.
Saulnier, who said he had no first aid training, was able to tie the artery in one of her legs and fashioned a tourniquet around the other using a plastic bag.
He said his fingers are extremely nimble thanks to the delicate work he does as a jeweller.
