A Greenwich Village woman who lost the use of her legs in a subway accident plunged to her death Thursday after cops said she somehow vaulted herself off an eighth-floor balcony.

Patti Gregory was still breathing when firefighters pulled her from the second-floor terrace at her building on LaGuardia Place and W. Third St.

But the 50-year-old mom died a short time later at nearby St. Vincent's Hospital Manhattan.

"This was no accident," a police source told the Daily News. "She was on the balcony up on the eighth floor and got herself over."

A close friend said he and the woman's heartbroken husband, author Danny Gregory, were not ready to call her death a suicide.

"I don't know how she could get over the railing. She's handicapped. She's in a wheelchair," said Patrick Doran, 42.

Gregory's spinal cord was severed in 2002 when she fell on the subway tracks as the train barreled into the station, Doran said.
