AMEBIX Risen: A History of Amebix
Amebix - Knights Of The Black Sun (New Video 2011)
This song really originated as an afterthought, an idea that popped up pretty much as we had closed the bag on new songs for the album. I had been harbouring an idea for some time, something of an epic Saga that had certain key points in the narrative -- there are references littered throughout the lyrics for anyone who cares to follow them. As a song, it is not typical of the rest of the album; it has a certain post punk feel which I really like, rather than straight forward grunt and thrash that many people may have expected, so it will divide opinions, which is always a good thing. It also has a clean vocal start, which is just asking for trouble -- but again, we are very happy with this as the integrity is there to carry it off, besides which I remember the same reluctance back in the 1980′s when we were playing 'Drink and Be Merry' or 'The Darkest Hour'. We decided after 24 years of silence to do what we always have done...exactly what we want...No Gods, No Masters...

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
