Bronx teen crushed to death in dump truck

Bronx teen Luis Camarillo was crushed to death in back of a private recycling truck Saturday in a horrific accident. Police said Camarillo, 18, of the Bronx was working at the back of the truck at a recycling plant in DUMBO at about 10:30 when the accident happened. The compactor came down on him, striking him in the chest. The truck's hydraulics system proceeded to crush him, police said.

The duo lodged their complaint Tuesday afternoon with the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, according to an incident report authored by Deputy D. Boyd. Mychia Vang and her mother, Pang Khang, charged that Vang’s former spouse had placed her and her Winder, Georgia residence “under a spell or spells.” Bruce Lor, Vang’s 28-year-old former spouse, reportedly did this with the assistance of his mother (who is not named in the report). To support their claim, Vang and Khang “stated they believe this because Mr. Lor was able to know what they do and where they go.” Additionally, Lor’s purported spell “caused Ms. Vang’s recent health issues,” alleged the pair. A man previously charged with having child pornography cut an electronic monitoring device off his ankle before carjacking a woman, fatally stabbing her and raping her 10-year-old daughter. David J. Renz abducted the school librarian and her daughter as they left a gymnastics class at a mall in the Syracuse suburb of Clay, about 150 miles west of Albany, on Thursday night. Renz bound both victims, raped the girl and drove a short distance to a spot where the girl escaped and was found by a passing motorist, troopers said. The motorist told 911 dispatchers he saw a man running away from the scene, allowing police to quickly send in officers on the ground and a sheriff's helicopter in the air. Renz was caught a short time later near a wooded area. They believe Renz tied up the woman and the girl and then raped the 10-year-old in a deserted area of the mall parking lot shortly before 9pm on March 14. It was unclear how the girl escaped or when her mother was killed, authorities said.

OSAKA — Police said Thursday that a 55-year-old woman has confessed to murdering her 25-year-old son by strangulation at their home in Kashiwara, Osaka Prefecture. HIROSHIMA — At least two people died and five others were injured Thursday when a man believed to be a Chinese worker went on a stabbing rampage at a fish processing firm in Japan, police and press reports said. The man in his 30s used a knife and shovel to attack several people at the firm in Etajima, a port near the western city of Hiroshima, at about 4:30 p.m., a prefectural police spokesman said by telephone. “The number of injured may possibly rise,” he said. The man was believed to be Chinese and was arrested on charges of murder and attempted murder, an Etajima police officer said. One of the men held her down as the others took it in turns to rape her. Following the attack, she walked back to her apartment but could not gain entry or even contact her boyfriend because all her possessions had been stolen. A passerby contacted police after finding her collapsed on the ground, outside the apartment, at 3am.

Saudi Arabia executes 7 men after appeals rejected

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — Seven Saudi men convicted of theft, looting and armed robbery were beheaded on Wednesday, according to the country's official news agency, more than a week after their families and a rights group appealed to the king for clemency. The executions took place in Abha, a city in the southern region of Asir, the Saudi Press Agency said. The south has been marginalized and suffered discrimination by the powerful central region where the capital, Riyadh, and the holy shrines of Mecca and Medina are located. The seven were arrested in 2006 and received death sentences in 2009, a Saudi newspaper reported at the time.

The case was back in focus after Human Rights Watch earlier this month called for the sentences to be canceled because the men were juveniles at the time of their arrest. One of the men told The Associated Press in early March that he was only 15 when he was arrested as part of a ring that stole jewelry in 2004 and 2005. Nasser al-Qahtani said he was tortured to confess and had no access to lawyers. Al-Qahtani said that during the years-long trial, he only faced the judge three times and when the men tried to complain to the judge about the torture or show torture marks on their bodies, they were ignored. He also said the judge never assigned him a lawyer. The original sentences called for death by firing squad and crucifixion. However, SPA said on Wednesday that the seven were beheaded. A security official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said three men with swords carried out the executions.

The dangerous practice is being blamed in the death of a 12-year-old girl from Victorville. Kristal Salcido lived with her grandmother and cousins. The seventh grader found easy access to Freon from the air conditioning units in their backyard. Kristal inhaled the chemical, later passing out in her grandma’s bathroom. She was pronounced brain-dead at a local hospital. Her family made the difficult choice to take her off life support four days later.

TOKYO — Police in Tokyo said Monday they have arrested a 49-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his 83-year-old mother to death with scissors at their home in Adachi Ward. According to police, the suspect, identified as Kunitoshi Komatsu, is accused of stabbing his mother Keiko in the neck with a pair of scissors at their apartment at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday. SHENYANG - Seven people have been confirmed dead after 2,000 cubic meters of sulphuric acid leaked in Northeast China's Liaoning province on Friday afternoon, local authorities said on Sunday. Rescue efforts ended Sunday at the scene in Fangshen village, Jianping county, where a sulphuric acid tank suddenly broke and leaked at 3 pm on Friday. Local environmental protection authorities said monitoring showed the water quality and air near the site were normal. Workers are still transferring the remains of the leaked material and treating the polluted land.

Kentucky State Police were investigating whether distracted driving caused a tractor-trailer to plow into an SUV carrying eight people on Saturday, killing six and possibly triggering a serious crash on the opposite side of the highway. The truck driver is ‘telling us that he saw the vehicle that was in front of him and he hit the brakes and he didn't hit them in time,’ Master Trooper Norman Chaffins said. ‘ ... Man kills wife, slashes son in Tokyo home

TOKYO — Police said Thursday they have arrested a 75-year-old man for allegedly murdering his wife and slashing his son with a knife at their home in Tokyo. The man, who has been named as Shigeru Uchida, was arrested Wednesday after his 24-year-old son called police. Fuji TV reported that Uchida’s son telephoned emergency services from a nearby convenience store to report that his father had stabbed him at their home in Shinagawa Ward at around 10:30 p.m. Police arrived at the scene to find that Uchida had followed his son to the convenience store. Uchida was arrested at the scene on a charge of assault. Police then searched Uchida’s home, around 50 meters away, and discovered the body of his 66-year-old wife, who had reportedly bled to death from several knife wounds, including at least one to her neck.
