A former evangelical church minister subjected his family to a 'total Victorian nightmare' of cruelty and sex abuse that saw him rape his wife and stepdaughter and cruelly humiliate his stepchildren. The 40-year-old man was a regular churchgoer but twisted the Bible's teachings to justify his behaviour, a trial at Gloucester Crown Court was told. He had denied 13 charges of sexual and psychological abuse of his family over a 15-year period from 1995 to 2010 when the children were growing up, but was found guilty of all but one offence.
