A drunken reveller had a lucky escape when she impaled her face on an umbrella after a boozy drinking session.
Jessica Yates fell off a hotel bed and onto one of the spokes of her recently discarded umbrella, which pierced into her nose, sliced down through her gum and into her mouth.
But the 22-year-old, from Solihull, West Midlands, admitted she had 'drunk so much she could not feel the pain' initially.
Friend Laura Sullivan dialled 999 as the black and green umbrella was stuck fast and too dangerously placed to pull out.
Miss Yates instead went to meet the paramedics with the umbrella still hanging from her face.
She was rushed to hospital where most of it was cut away to leave a six-inch spike still embedded through her nose.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
