Grandmother stabbed to death 'by passenger' behind the wheel of her car had re-married just WEEKS ago

A newlywed woman in her 70s was fatally stabbed by a passenger as she drove along a road. The victim, who has been named as May Evans, was driving a small red Vauxhall car that came off the road when she was attacked in Luton, Bedfordshire yesterday afternoon. The grandmother had only re-married in the past month, neighbours said. Two members of the public, who saw that Mr Evans had been stabbed, pinned the passenger, a man in his 50s, to the ground until the police arrived. Mrs Evans is thought to have driven a short distance from her home in Solway Road South, Luton when she lost control of the car and crashed into a fence at Trent Road at just after 3pm.
