Franklin, who was blamed for as many as 20 killings, also confessed to shooting and paralyzing the Hustler magazine publisher. He targeted blacks and Jews and said he was trying to spark a race war. Missouri executed him for the 1977 sniper attack that killed Gerald Gordon, a 42-year-old father of three.
