According to police, an emergency call was received at around 5:40 p.m. Sunday from a woman who told the operator that her son had stabbed her, TBS reported. Paramedics rushed to the scene and found the woman had been stabbed in the back with a kitchen knife.

The victim and her 22-year-old friend were preparing for a youth service evening at the church in Samson Street on Friday night when the attack occurred.

Man ‘prayed’ before allegedly stealing from church collection box

A surveillance video taken by a Catholic church shows a man kneeling and apparently praying for several minutes before busting open a collection box that contained donations left in the small prayer chapel in northwest Houston.

“I wondered if he was praying, ‘Dear God, Please don’t let me get caught,’ or ‘Dear God, Please forgive me for what I’m about to do,’” said parish administrator John Naber.

William Joseph Johnson, 34, is in custody and charged with criminal mischief, according to court documents from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. He is accused of targeting the Catholic church’s 24-hour prayer chapel for nearly eight months by stealing money from a sealed collection box on multiple occasions. The first known incident was caught on the church’s surveillance camera on July 28, the court document said.

Carolinas mystery: Missing woman, dead fiancé

Dara Lee Watson left her parents' store in downtown Boone a week ago Monday with fiancé David Hedrick, headed back to their home in the Charleston suburb of Mount Pleasant.

Watson's boss and a friend received text messages from her phone Wednesday, but nobody could reach her by email or voice.

Late last Thursday, Watson's mother filed a missing person report with Mount Pleasant police. Officers called the couple's home Friday morning and talked to Hedrick. Then a few hours later, police were called to the Rivertowne subdivision home after neighbors heard a noise.

Police found Hedrick dead of a gunshot wound -- a self-inflicted wound, according to the Charleston Post and Courier.

Watson, 30, a native of Boone, remains missing.

Six killed in Libyan tribal clashes

A fierce gunfight between two tribes in Libya's remote southeastern desert has killed six people in the past two days and wounded another 20, officials and tribal sources told Agence France Presse on Monday.

Clashes between members of the Zwai and Tobu tribes in the town of Kufra killed five people on Sunday, while one person was slain in a firefight on Monday, tribal sources said.
