A Montgomery County man was arrested this morning and charged with the murder of his 10-week-old daughter, authorities said.
Khalil Brown, 20, of Plymouth Meeting, told detectives his baby daughter, Aniyah, was sleeping Jan. 28 when he picked her up and shook her for "less than five minutes," the Montgomery County District Attorney's office announced in a statement.
After shaking the child, he told police "she just went dead and stopped moving," according to the statement. Brown described the shaking as "rough."
Asked why he did it, he offered no explanation.
Aniyah was taken to Montgomery Hospital in Norristown and later transferred to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Brown made his statements to detectives on Feb. 2, according to the statement.
Aniyah was removed from life support on Feb. 5 after CHOP medical staff determined she had no brain activity. An autopsy determined that cerebral hemorrhage was the cause of death and ruled it a homicide.
Brown was scheduled for arraignment this afternoon before Magisterial District Judge Francis J. Bernhardt in Conshohocken.

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches."
"Being is substance and life; life manifests by movement; movement is perpetuated by equilibrium; equilibrium is therefore the law of immortality.
"The doctrine of equality!... But there exists no more poisonous poison: for it seems to be preached by justice itself, while it is the end of justice.... "Equality for equals, inequality for unequals" that would be the true voice of justice: and, what follows from it, "Never make equal what is unequal."
