At least three people have been killed as storms pounded the U.S. South and Midwest earlier this morning, prompting tornado warnings in a handful of states.
A sheriff's spokesman in Jefferson County, Alabama, said two of the dead were a 16-year-old boy and an 82-year-old man from the Birmingham area.
A storm system produced a possible tornado that moved across Jefferson County around 3.30am local time Randy Christian said.
